Event Details : 'Recollections Reconnections' An Exhibition of Drawings, Paintings, Tapestries & Copper Reliefs by S.G. Vasudev.
"Rhapsody" is a devised piece of text & movement inspired by the art work of SG Vasudev. Coinciding with his exhibition at lalit Kala Akademy, the performance picks up on motifs, images & characters from the work on display & weaves them into a narrative tapestry much like his own.
"The tadpole Repertory" is a Delhi based collective dedicated to promoting & producing original work in the theatre.
RECOLLECTIONS  RECONNECTIONS  is one of the largest exhibition containing over 70 works by S.G. Vasudev.Vasudev has gone through several series in his works : “Fantasy”, “Vriksha” (The Tree of Life),  “Maithuna” (Act of love), “He & She”, “Inscapes”, “Earthscapes”,  and “The Theatre of Life”.The present exhibition is the extension of all the series.
In a way, this  exhibition is , an artistic reconciliation, a summing up of years of artistic contemplation and reflection.   Divergent streams of images and ideas, which have grown and ripened over the years move and merge with ease in Vasudev’s works.
One finds a perfect interplay of inspiration as varied as theatre, music and nature found in his works.   Sounds have played important role in allowing to discover deeper aspects of imagination wherein repetitive elements in his work are akin to the movement of creation and rhythm practiced in Indian music. In fact he has titled some of his works as “Rhapsody”.
This is an exhibition that epitomizes the essence of Vasudev’s art over last forty years.   The various themes that have preoccupied the artist’s consciousness, the many images and emotions that have punctuated his works meet to produce a magical mosaic.   It is energetic and ever changing.
