Event Details : The Spring Festival 2011. Himanshu Verma’s Holi 2011 - Flowers, flower markets, food, fun on the festival of colours…
Join us for what strives to be Delhi’s most traditional & natural Holi, now in its sixth year. Our Holi celebrations try to stick as close as possible to the beautiful ethos of Basant Utsav, one of India’s oldest festivals dating back to ancient India. Today, Holi is becoming more popular every year on the cultural scene of Delhi, but the essence of the festival is totally lost in many of these (often vulgar, and almost often culturally dissonant) celebrations. We try to stay as close as possible to the real spirit of the festival – a celebration of pure natural spring colours, along with special Holi food, and music! And our beloved genda phool – the eternal and universal marigold flower!
Featured : Holi Khelnaa – Play with the most fragrant and delicate natural colours – wet and dry – mostly all made by us at home. Our colours are 100% natural and sans any toxic ingredients. Some of our colours also have medicinal properties.
Genda gulaal – play with hand-crushed marigold petals
Natural wet colours – tesu flowers, spinach, beetroot & more…
Multi-coloured Holi gulaal of the purest kind
Other colours – sandalwood, perfumes, rose water…
Holi Khaana – special holi delicacies prepared by the caterers from Old Delhi, the everGREEN Thandai, Gujiya, Kanji-Pakoda & many other sensational spring divinities…
Holi Gaana – 100% desi holi music dhamaka, dhol, holi music…
Genda Lagana - Plant genda phool, and its herbal friends with us to celebrate the beautiful morning of Holi…
Schedule :
Mini Workshop on Holi Colour Making – 9 to 10 am / Please pre-register
Plantations 10 am – 11 am
Holi Celebrations – 11 am – 4 pm
