Event Details : 'Matta Vilas' a Sanskrit-based play in the classical style of theatre.
Set in Kanchi, Matta Vilas is an early seventh century play written by King Mahndr Vikram. The only play of its time to have come to light, it is significan for its crisp satire of religious prentensions that are prevalent even today. Presented in the classical style of theatre, this Sanskrit-based play is a remarkable piece of playwriting, as well as an entertaining spectacle that tackles issues relevant in our day and age.
