RANI’S STORY…. At age seven Rani was trafficked from South India. After days of abuse she was rescued and placed in an orphanage. In 1979, an American family adopted her. She married Trong Hong, also a trafficking victim. Today Rani Hong is a wife, mother – and a passionate advocate against human trafficking. She has contributed to the crafting of precedent-setting Washington state laws and has participated as an advisor to U.S. Congress and to other International Parliaments. The Hongs founded the Tronie Foundation to provide worldwide restoration of victims of human trafficking and those vulnerable to exploitation. The Hongs share their own histories as survivors of childhood atrocities to help bring attention to the plight of those who suffer. Their stories have appeared in American and international media, including on "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
Film -- Slave Girls Of India -- Synopsis: Around the globe, over 200 million children are engaged in child labor, often, doing the most brutal or degrading of jobs. Girls are especially vulnerable. Even in countries as wealthy as the United States, girls face harsh lives as victims of sex trafficking or as migrant workers.
