Event Details : Green Room Theatre presents 'Bismillah' Bengali Play.
The story ‘Bismillah’ revolves around the life of a yesteryear theatre superstar who was forgotten by time.  The whole story comes to life when two reporters from a local magazine approach a 70-year old Tara Moi for an interview. As she unfolds every chapter we realize that her life had been a torrid one. Nurtured in a traditional brothel, Tara goes on to become an extremely glamourous performer until she moves on to being a theatre artist. The owner of the theatre company, perverted as he was, exploits her in more ways than one. A superstar performer by the evening and the director’s muse by the night, Tara is seen leading painful life amidst all the light and applause. That’s when,  Bismillah a deprived violin player enters her life….and the story moves on......

Green Room Theatre (GRT) is fused together with the vibrancy of youth and the edge of experience. The group finds its source of inspiration in the paradoxes that surround us. Be it on social infrastructure, periodic grandeur or just slice of life, our plays come with an unexpected but true-to-life twist.

Director : Anjan Kanjilal

It is my belief "Bismillah" will go beyond the horizons for its strong playwright and direction. Why not explore the possibilities of picturizing this unique play.
Best wishes to both of you and GRT
