"The Urban Gaze" is a photography exhibition by Sandeep Biswas. The surreal works are metaphoric reflection of the urban world that surrounds one. Objects & materials play a major role in creating this new world, which overshadows the holistic or organic life.
Artificial living & objects have a bigger relevance to the world today as lives aspire for ease & convenience. Cities have always been an easy target for migrants who want a better & comfortable life. The life of a material that makes them feel stronger than the others. A Life full of the objects of desire. Objects which glitter & need no effort in maintenance. It’s about production, use & throw. This exhibition is about the so called development, leading to a cluster of chaos. A chaos that glitters & is camouflaged to look physically beautiful.
This is a visual journey that gazes into the material world in the city & about the material world that I feel is gazing back at me all the time.
