Event Details : 'Khadi Genda Phool Walk to Rajghat' Wear Khadi and offer Genda Phool to Gandhi
The walk will feature a unique conglomeration of two projects – Himanshu Verma’s “Genda Phool Project” (to be launched shortly) and Shailendra Uniyal’s “Let Gandhi Talk” Project.
Let Gandhi Talk is a unique idea to give Gandhi his voice and let Indians and people across the world hear his message of love and peace. See the short video above.
The Genda Phool Project by art and festivals curator Himanshu Verma aims to explore the rich universe of the marigold flower. In this initiative, we use Genda Phool as a symbol for peace, non-violence, satyagraha and swaraj. We will walk to offer Genda Phool to Gandhi ji, in his resting place, Raj Ghat.
On 30th January 1948, Gandhi’s voice was silenced by the bullets of a right wing assassin. Today, 30th January, is widely celebrated as Ahimsa Day (Non-violence day) and on this occasion, we bring his ideas and voice back to life.
People from different walks of life will gather in Connaught Place and march to Raj Ghat. En route, they will pass through some sites of terrorist attacks in Delhi like Barakhamba Road. At the head of the march will be a pair of larger than life Gandhi shoes. Wherever the marchers stop they will place the shoes down and invite people around them and other participants to step into Gandhi's shoes and repeat his words of peace and non-violence, thereby bringing Gandhi and his ideas back to life again. The entire event will be shot on video and will be posted on to the internet for mass circulation.
In addition, we will walk, singing along Gandhiji’s favourite Bhajans like Vaishnav Janto, Raghupati Raghav & others.

Conducted and Curated by : Himanshu Verma and Shailendra Uniyal

Walk Agenda :
11 am: Gather at Khadi Gramodyog Bhawan
Tour of Khadi Gramodyog Bhawan & Purchasing Khadi Clothes for the Walk
(Please note it is mandatory for all participants to dress in Khadi. For your convenience, we are meeting at the Khadi emporium so that those who do not have Khadi clothes, may be able to purchase these from here. Celebrate yet another one of Gandhiji’s legacy – Khadi, the symbol of self-reliance. It is heartening to see that the legacy continues, as our tour of the emporium will prove. Khadi clothes are available at heavily subsidised prices, and hence this should not put a strain on anyone’s pocket.)

(Details to be announced later)
12.30-1.30: Walk to Rajghat
1.30-2.00: Offer homage at Rajghat
