Event Details : Impresario Asia Invites you to 'Saarang'. A soulful evening of Geet & Ghazals by Noopur Narayan.

About Noopur Narayan : Noopur who is a disciple of late Padmashri Ustad Hafiz Ahmed Khan, a renowned classical vocalist of Rampur-Sahaswan gharana, holds a diploma in Sitar and Tabla from the Prayag Sangeet Samiti. She holds an M.phil degree in Vocal Music from the University of Delhi. She was awarded the Lala Jugal Kishore Prasad Memorial Prize during her Masters’ in Music. She also trained under Shri Ram Sharan Dass for Light Classical Music for 3 years till 1989 who was a composer at All India Radio. Currently she is a disciple of Ms. Uma Garg, (Professor, Music Faculty, Delhi University). She is a P.G.T in Vocal Music at the Delhi Public School since 2000 where she works closely with a multi-disciplinary team of fine arts professionals in the school, as part of the Performing Arts Department. Her role is to spot talent and nurture the same in the school children, using music as a universal language of expression. Over the past 28 years, she has sung, played instruments and acted in over 300 shows of 35 plays that were varied in content, style and language. These included plays in English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu. She has also had the opportunity of working with leading theatre directors like Ranjit Kapoor, Shailendra Goel, Gyan Shivpuri and Dr. C. D. Sidhu. She recorded several SITAR RECITALS for All India Radio from 1988-89 and played SITAR in Yuv-Vaani Orchestra at the Anniversary Celebrations of Yuv-Vaani, Al India Radio in 1989. Noopur received the first prize in solo singing in K. L. Sehgal Memorial Competition organized by North Zone Cultural Centre, Ministry of HRD, 2004 and a Special Appreciation Award from Chairman, DPS Society, 2004. Accompanying her on 12th October on the Saarangi is Ustad Asif Ali khan, Dr.Rajneesh Gupta on the Keyboard and Sitar, Somnath Ghosh and Pradeep Chatterjee in the Tabla and Saarang Narayan on the Guitar.
