SCULPTURE EXHIBITION "God & I" Steet Artworks by Vibhor Sogani at The Stainless Gallery, Okhla Crossing - 1st to 12th March 08

Event Details : The works, abstract in nature, are a sensitive reflection of the shades of life as we all encounter. The presence of the omnipotent being felt around us, within us....
Sometimes complaining, sometimes questioning, giving in to the temptations set by Him, expressing joy, expressing sorrow, sometimes trying to follow the path laid by Him....The works reflect different moods as the artist experiences. The nature of expression is uniquely his.
Through this exhibition, he presents different expressions and thoughts while experimenting innovatively, using the hues and tones of various materials, predominantly Stainless Steel. A variety of techniques and finishes have been explored in these art works. The works play with the inherent characteristics of steel - the satin finish, the mirror finish and the raw and rough finishes. The surfaces interplay dramatically, encapsulating the reflections from around and blending in with the surroundings.
“god&i” being presented metaphorically promises to be an unusual show. The exhibition would showcase wall art and installations.

About Vibhor Sogani : Vibhor, a graduate from NID, Ahmedabad and a well known person in the creative community, has been for over a decade conceptualising and giving shape to ideas. Inspired from a medium which communicates, breathes and interacts he delves in creating a new language – installations for public and private places.
His approach is very thought provoking and naturally communicates his ideas and expressions through the medium of art installations. This started as works in steel, which in many ways repositioned the material steel and catapulted it to another level Now, while experimenting and exploring many other materials such as brass, copper, bronze, stone and other mixed media, he is engaged in a series of commissioned projects and conceptual art assignments, creating large installations.
Public Art and Urban Installations in public spaces and traffic round-abouts are his new areas of fascination. Over the years, his works have been displayed in various galleries and enjoyed pride of place in Private Collections. His work would soon be showcased in prestigious overseas galleries.

CURATOR : Dr. Alka Pande
As the curator for THE STAINLESS Gallery, Dr. Alka Pande creates concepts woven round stainless steel to create poetry and style to bring warmth to the cold metal and present masterpieces with the help of fellow artist.
Dr. Alka Pande She is also consultant Arts Advisor and Curator, Visual Arts Gallery, India Habitat Centre, has been responsible for curating some of Delhi's most unusual and perceptive shows in recent times. Dr. Pande is also Visiting Faculty for Aesthetics at the College of Art as well as Reader, Department of Fine Arts, Punjab University, Chandigarh, with a range of academic papers and lectures on diverse aspects of the arts to her credit. She has authored several books on art and art history, and has a special interest in ancient Indian erotic literature and art as well as gender and sexuality. She currently also offers art advisory services to corporates and individuals on art procurement and investment.
