- Tata Motors has launched a brand new version of their sports utility vehicle (SUV) Safari which is available in two new colours Pearl White and Cherry Red other than the existing colours. It has new generation 2.2 VTT Dicor engine which has a 16-valve Dual Over Head Camshaft (DOHC), operated by a 32 bit electronic control unit. The engine has a specially designed turbocharger incorporating Variable Turbine Technology ( VTT ), which substantially raises the maximum power and torque ratings to 140 PS ( at 3000 rpm ) and 320 Nm (at 2200 rpm) respectively. The engine is much quieter and more fuel efficient than previous variants.
- It has 3 engine options which are 90PS Turbo Charged Inter-cooled ( TCIC ) Diesel costing Rs.6.4 lakhs ( ex-Showroom Delhi ), 115 PS Direct Injection Common Rail ( DICOR ) Diesel starting from Rs.6.99 lakhs ( ex-Showroom Delhi ), and 127 PS, Multi-point Fuel Injection ( MPFI ) Petrol starting from Rs.7.99 lakhs ( ex Showroom Delhi ).
- Tata Motors sold 16,000 units in the financial year 2006 - 2007.
