• Event Info : Oktoberfest- "die Weisn": the actual term of the German Oktoberfest is“die Weisn”- a contraction of the word "Wiesen" which literally translated means meadow or field. The original Oktoberfest was held on the fields in front of the city gates which were later renamed "Theresienwiese" (Theresa's fields).
• Despite its name, Oktoberfest begins in late September. This year -- which marks its 174th anniversary .
• Oktoberfest is a two-week festival held each year in Munich, Bavaria, Germany during late September and early October. It is one of the most famous events in the city and the world's largest fair, with some six million people attending every year.
• It is a colorful, festive celebration in Germany and has become an annual tradition around the world. Oktoberfest is a community event of family entertainment featuring two stages and two tents which always features Bavarian-style entertainment, continuous music, art & crafts, polka and waltz contests, Children's fun area in Kinder Park, a German Bier Tent, and Oktoberfest Vineyard area, plus delicious food and drink……….
• The first Oktoberfest was a Munich-based party to celebrate the marriage of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess in 1810. Bavarians have been celebrating the harvest with beer festivals since before the 1400s. Märzen is brewed in March to be ready for the September and October beer festivals.
