• Event Info : Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma & his son Rahul Sharma will cast a spell with their soulful santoor music.
  
• Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma is the master of santoor, the folk instrument from the valley of Kashmir. He worked hard to bring glory to this instrument which was once criticized by orthodox musicians & listeners that this is not a complete instrument. He made some changes to the instrument & discovered new techniques of playing it. He has played for over half a century & have millions of listeners all over the world. He has won many awards which includes the Honorary Citizen for the City of Baltimore, USA (1985), Sangeet Natak Academy Award (1986), Maharashtra Gaurav Puraskar (1990), Honorary Doctorate from the University of Jammu (1991) Padmashree (1991), Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan Award (1998), and Padma Vibhushan (2001)
  
• His compositions were used in the movies like Silsila, Lamhe, Chandni, Darr etc.
  
• About Rahul Sharma : He is the first young musician ( not to mention the only Indian musician ) to collaborate with the world-renowned pianist Richard Clayderman to not just cut an album but give live concerts too. And, he is the youngest Indian musician to perform at the WOMAD (World of music, Arts and Dance) festival in UK, as well as the Edingburgh festival, Scotland (2001). And, his performance along with his illustrious father Pandit Shivkumar Sharma was the first ever concert of Indian music in Egypt. And, he is the first young Indian classical musician to give music for a commercial Bollywood feature film all by himself.
• The awards won by him are the Indo American Society Award (1998), Bollywood Music Award for promising New Music Director, New York (2002), MTV (IMMIES) Music Award for Best Classical / Fusion Album 2003 and so on.
