City Scripts – a three-day celebration of city writings
With the city increasingly becoming the locus of a complex landscape of claims, writing about the city has become akin to a political act. To write about the city is to stake a right to represent, re-imagine and re-tell a city’s stories through personal prisms.
City Scripts 2018 will look at how the city is produced and reproduced through different forms of writing. The festival will bring together authors, journalists, architects, poets, and artists, including Hansda Sowvendra Shekhar, Amita Baviskar, Chandan Gowda, Orijit Sen, Prasad Shetty, Rupali Gupte and more.
Curated by the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS), City Scripts was initially launched in 2016 in Bangalore. After the first very successful Delhi edition of the festival in 2017, Goethe-Insitut /Max Mueller Bhavan, New Delhi will host the festival again.
There will be full-day programmes including walking-and-writing workshops, poetry sessions, conversations, books, installations and more!
