Event Description : FEST "Thomso : Song of the Wildflower" Annual Cultural Festival of IIT Roorkee. 

Thomso is the annual cultural festival of Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. The event is held around the month of October every year and is the premier youth festival of the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The 33rd edition of 2015 witnessed a footfall of about 40,000, making it the largest cultural fest of Northern India. Started in 1982 by the students of IIT Roorkee, it plays host to a multitude of talented scholars and media moguls in an annual celebration of culture and intellect. Thomso now celebrates its 34th year, with this year’s theme being “Song of the Wildflower”.
In its 34 th Chapter, Thomso has been graced with some of the most enlightening personalities, including Sonu Nigam, Shaan, KK, Farhan Akhtar, Sushmita Sen Raghu Dixit, Indian Ocean and innumerably more. From fearsome competitions to lavish carnivals, celebrating art, culture and expression with an overflow of youthful excitement and energy, Thomso is certainly the place to be!
At Thomso, we believe that nothing serves as a better testament to the human brilliance than the way we manifest our intellect and artistry into our culture; and in all honesty, no decade has had a culture as extravagantly adorned with dreams and unyielding ambition as the ‘70s. The beauty of this decade lied in the psychedelic music of The Beatles, the avant-garde innovations from the garage of Steve Jobs, and the labs of Stephen Hawking. Fitting in was not the way to go any more. Ingenuity and passion had taken the driver’s seat, leading us all to a world where being a maverick was not frowned upon.
So on this 21st - 23rd October let’s relive the spirit of the 70’s and “Discover the Proud misfit with a weary soul” and set it free. After-all the best thing you can be is yourself. This October, we aim to recreate this decade and drench in its essence by doing just that.
