Jared Weeks and Jason Null formed the band in their small hometown of Corinth, Mississippi in 2004 and started writing songs for the future Saving Abel band. Saving Abel gradually came together with guitarist Scott Bartlett, bassist Eric Taylor, and drummer Blake Dixon.

In 2006, Saving Abel released an album under their own label. Saving Abel released their self-titled, major label debut album on March 11, 2008. The album features the single "Addicted" which peaked at #2 on the US Mainstream Rock Chart. As of February 2009 Saving Abel's self-titled album has sold over 382,443 copies. On the week of January 15 their album peaked at #49 on the Billboard 200.

The band toured with Nickelback in early 2009. They continued to tour with Nickelback during the Dark Horse Tour through Live Nation outdoor amphitheaters summer 2009 with Hinder, Papa Roach, and Nickelback.

Saving Abel has created a polished combination of Southern and Alternative rock. Null and Weeks bring in differing songwriting approaches influences, giving Saving Abel a well-rounded sound, which is accessible and comfortable.
