Event Details : Oxford Bookstore in association with Cedar Books is hosting the launch of ‘Rabindranath Tagore’s Riddle Plays’ translated in English by Nilanjana Basu Kaul. The book is originally written as Hasya Kautuk in Bengali is a collection of brief comedies, meant to entertain young minds and to inculcate humour in the routine life.
About the book : ‘Rabindranath Tagore’s Riddle Play’ is an English translation of Hasya Kautuk (Bengali). The book is a collection of brief comedies, meant to entertain young minds and to inculcate humour in the routine life. These plays were originally published in the journals Balak & Bharti. The object behind the conception of this work is to bring forth a relatively lesser know light-hearted, humorous facet of Tagore which very few people are aware about.

About the author : Nilanjana has always been extremely fond of Tagore in all his literary forms – songs, prose, poems, dance and drama. Born in Calcutta, she is a Post Graduate in International Relations from Jadavpur University and a UGC certified instructor-translator-interpreter in Russian language for quite a long time now. Permanently settled in Delhi, Nilanjana has till date visited Russia and Egypt for various academic purposes, and has translated important academic material in Russian language.
