Far  and Wide- “ Everywhere you look”, everything has its beauty or meaning… but not everyone sees it alike. One wouldn’t think a combination of letters put together on paper to forms words can create beauty, but sometimes it may turn one’s imagination on and prove to be the most vibrant source of beauty. Beauty means different things to different people and artists see, perceive abd reflect onit in different genres and modes. Images can liberate one’s imagination to help conjure up dreams, memories, stories and most beautiful imaginable scenes or ideas.
The exhibition presents a creative a collection of new works by a select group of 11 artists invited to participate in the show. The artists as wanderers, drifting about in space and time, drawing from a vast, fluid fund of personal encounters and collective ideas use conventional painting materials and new modes to explore life and its relationship with natural or urban environment or the aspects of the daily world that sustains them as individuals, while others cast a critical eye on the values engendered by society and what it means to be a global citizen. The suite of works challenge ideas of what paintings stands for and where or how creativity are in turn beautiful, subtle, contemplative and cerebral; the artists united by a desire to engage the viewer in myriad ways.
Binoys work’s communicate an emotional drama emphasizing the relationship between man, society, and the natural world using the surrounding natural environment as his props. Maya Burman’s poetic watercolours detailed with a strong fantasy element reminiscent of the French art noureau tradition are a blend of two cultures, Indian and French . Murli Chheroth’s current explorations include the architecture of the city, urbanization and urban cultures. Environmetal concerns underline the differentily creative outpourings of Rajesh ram and Pratul Dash, both of whom examine life in contemporary metropolis situated amidst an environment in peril. Shivani Aggarwal through her  works searches for self definition and her feminine concers through familiar elements; thread, wool, needles or cutting instruments.
Simrin Mehra Aggarwal’s experiments tend to be autobiographical with an ideological slant around the environment. Viraj Naik’s dramatic and colourful paintings spell a variety of fictions, using caricated figures around man- animal relationship in today’s fanatic society! Realities of life features in metropolis figures in the fun filled kitchish works of Farhad Hussain whereas Zakkir hussain uses conjoined imagery to indicate some discarded, hidden situations and aspects of reality. A holistic representation is formed here in the show as a confluence and merging ideas and modes of expressions that the ensemble of eleven artists with different sensibilities, have especially put together for the exhibition. The exhibition will be accompanied by an illustrated catalogue with a curatorial essay, artists’ CVs and photographs of the works and the participating artists.
