Event Details : Dhoomimal Art Centre presents 'Colours of Life' a solo show of fashion couture and paintings by Surjit Akre.
Surjit Akre is one of the artists who extensively dwell on the situation of the female-her desires, ambitions, dreams, aspirations, moods and engagements, leisure, etc. Such works, when presented in her colour spectrum, engage and engulf the audience. Surjit’s current series highlights the female situation. These works are something of a ‘tell tale’ and goading one’s conscience, that is. Her ‘suffering’ series too had the intended impact and was well received at the art lovers end. “Flowers and thorns” and “Moonlight were some of her earlier works in oil that highlighted the tensions and contradictions faced by the female in her journey through life’s tricky lanes. Surjit Akre’s is a tell-tale art that opens many a window on the life and longings of the modern female, of whom she is a good chronicler.
