Event Details : Jamghat’s Theatre Workshop “Little Theatricks” is a remarkable theatre noted for its acclaimed and innovative productions. A workshop where artists create new work, hone their technique and collaboratively explore theatre.
Little Theatricks is committed to the development of innovative theatre by supporting people interested in theatre at all stages of their careers, providing an environment where work can be created free from the artistic compromise and forbidding financial demands often associated with commercial ventures. Jamghat has evolved to become a significant force in city’s vibrant cultural landscape and is now recognized as one of the theatre group with original work.
The workshop places the artist at the centre of its mission and as a result the work that is developed and produced here is aesthetically, thematically and methodologically diverse. Jamghat is known for producing intelligent and complex plays that expand the boundaries of theatrical form and in some new and compelling way addresses issues that are critical to our times. Jamghat boasts a list of acclaimed work that includes Bhanwar, Eidghah Express, Humein Naaz Hain, and various street plays on Street Children and Homelessness, Global Warming, HIV/AIDS, Say No to Plastic Bags, Anger Management, Female Foeticide, Child Labour, Anti Crackers, Water conservation, Dowry, Intelligent Segregation of Medical and Home Waste.
Jamghat supports artists through all phases of their work, from experimentation in the rehearsal to presentation before an audience. The workshop forms a wide range of creative learning opportunities essential to our mission of supporting the artistic growth of emerging and established artists. Through readings, games, small scale productions, Little Theatricks provides a distinctive array of collaboration between artists and staff. It provides opportunities for the participant of the Little Theatricks to perform in and around the city which provides total theatre immersion experience.
How the artistic work is received by the public is an important facet of our work as well. To that end, the workshop’s education initiatives engage artists and audiences in a discourse about the work, bringing everyone closer to the creative process.
