8th August : Black Bakkhai Collective presents ‘The Magic Hour’ ( 30 mins. ).
It mixes Shakespearian characters with the Kathakali suggesting pre-colonial India, the British Colonization & Indian Independence.
Black Bakkhai Collective presents 'A Terrible Beauty is Born' ( 30 mins. )
The play shows International Call Centres in India, set in New York, US & Gurgaon. It explores a relation between an Old American lady Elizabeth in New York and her telephonic credit card dues collector, John. Through this relationship we discover this strange new world of fake accents and identities. Right till the end of the play Elizabeth thinks John is an American while in reality he is Ashok Mathur calling from Gurgaon with a fake name, accent and identity.
9th August :
Black Bakkhai Collective presents Ecdysis (The snake sheds its skin) (English/60 mins)
It is a story of three Indians living in Linz, pursuing a different trajectory within a realm bounded by hope, assimilation, tradition and emancipation.
