Event Details : 'Summer Duo' Classical Guitarist Shyamanth Behal in duo with French Flutist Yohann Egret.
A duo performance of Western Classical Music by two professional Classic Musicians. Other than an exceptional classical musical performance, the concert will give an exquisite example of mixing cultures in a musical way.
Shyamanth and Yohann already know each other as they formed Summer Duo in the beginning of winter 2008 and have performed 2 concerts together in New Delhi.
Both of them are keen to perform again as they have been working separately on a repertoire with a number of pieces from Argentina, by the composers Astor Piazzolla and Maximo Diego Pujol, as well as other pieces by J.S. Bach, Jacques Ibert, Paul Desmond and Antonio Carlos Jobim.
This concert is not only Indo-French Culture oriented but also a musical collaboration between French and an Indian Artist. The genre of music is Western Classical Music with some French titles. It’s a fusion of an Indian and a French artist who share their same love for the classical music to be enjoyed by one and all.
Shyamant Behal studied under Geneviève Chanut at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris and received a Diplôme d’Execution with felicitations from the jury at the end if his studies. Since his return to Delhi in 2007, he has given a number of concerts in New Delhi, both as a soloist and with ensembles.
He began playing the classical guitar at the age of fourteen, and has performed regularly at concerts organized by the Delhi School of Music. He finished his Grade 8 Trinity College exams in 1998, and after completing his Bachelors in History from Delhi University, went to study in Paris with a scholarship from the French Government. It was at the Ecole Normale that he perfected his skills as a musician.
He also enrolled at the Ecole Nationale de Musique et de Danse de Cachan, and was awarded a Gold Medal upon completing his Diplome d’Etudes Musicales. Shyamant decided to return to India so that he could help in the formation of young musicians in the country, and especially guitarists. He has taught the classical guitar at the Delhi School of Music and at Performer’s Collective and has also given some private lessons.
He also formed a guitar quartet with some of his students who are now musicians by their own right.
Some of the composers Shyamant has in his repertoire are:
From the Renaissance and Baroque period: J.S. Bach, Domenico Scarlatti, Daniel Batchelar, and Frescobaldi.
From the classical period: Giuliani, Francisco Tarrega, Fernando Sor, and Dionisio Aguado.

Since 2003, he has become a flute professor in France and is playing with different groups and as a soloist in different genres from Classical to World Music.
The 30 years old musician has become known for his qualities as a professional flute musician as well as a creator of music and ensembles. In 2004, he has created both the “Resonances” quintet exploring the richness of World Music and a piece of Musical Storytelling of “the Little Prince”.
