  • Event Details : Historical and political aspects of the conflict in the Caucasus.
  • To avoid genocide and save human lives in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the Russian Federation has recognised independence of both republics. The decision fully corresponds to the Principles of International Law.
  • Still many Indian mass-media present mostly the western point of view on the conflict in Georgia, ignoring Moscow position and arguments.
  • In this regard Russian Information Centre in New Delhi invites Indians to a meeting with prominent Russian experts, who will explain what actually happens in Georgia: will expand on the history of the conflict in the Caucasus, say what made Ossetians and Abkhazians fight for independence, analyse legal aspect of the republics' recognition by Russia and geopolitical consequences of this step. Experts are ready for an open discussion.
  • The issue will be discussed by Russian speakers from Moscow (RIA Novosti press-centre) and Indians from New Delhi (Russian Information Centre).
