Monsoon Light: Photographing Rain and its Universe as part of Red Earth's Monsoon Festival 2 at Max Mueller Bhavan - 16th to 29th August, 2007
- Exhibition Info : A first of its kind exhibition, Monsoon Light seeks to foreground photographic experiences of the Monsoon. Photography, a medium that is capable of greater immediacy than painting, may allow us to experience and enjoy the Monsoon in an entirely different way, and the exhibition aims to do just that.
- It brings together the work of some leading art photographers who explore the varying facets of Monsoon: water, trees, rain, landscapes, people and more. Their work reflects varied approaches and concerns revolving around the Monsoon. Hence, while abstract thinkers like Bandeep Singh and Shibu Arakkal, show us the abstract beauty of the monsoon; others like Ravi Aggarwal follow an ecological-environmental approach in their work. Sanjay Bhattacharya’s landscapes of Shantiniketan in the rain recreate the poetic magic of misty Monsoon days. Adding yet another colour is Leena Kejriwal, exploring people and the city and their relationship to Monsoon, and German artist Christina Zueck’s Water Disco series featuring young men dancing joyfully under simulated rain in an amusement park in Dehradun.
- Artists Displaying their Artworks are : Bandeep Singh, Christina Zueck, Leena Kejriwal, Ravi Aggarwal, Sanjay Bhattacharya, Shibu Arakkal
- Place : Siddhartha Hall, Max Mueller Bhavan, 3 Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi-110001
