  • Event Info : Vocal Recital by Gauri Damle-Pathare from Mumbai, disciple of the late Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki and currently, Smt Padma Talwalkar.
  • About Gauri Damle-Pathare : Gauri developed an interest in Hindustani classical music listening to her mother who was a disciple of Pt.Jitendra Abhisheki. Gauri’s initial gurus were her mother Dr.Vidya Damle and then Pt.Gangadharbuwa Pimpalkhare from the Kirana Gharana. Later Gauri was fortunate enough to receive talim for 5 years from Pt.Jitendra Abhisheki. Since 1994 Gauri started receiving talim from eminent vocalist Smt. Padma Talwalkar who blended in her the gayaki of Jaipur and Gwalior Gharanas. Gauri also learnt voice culture techniques from Ustad Sayeedudin Dagar.
  • Gauri has been the recipient of several awards including Smt Kesarbai Kerkar scholarship presented by NCPA Mumbai for 1999-2000; Smt Yamunadevi Shane Puraskar for classical vocal for 2002-3; Sitaram Dixit Puraskar for light classical music for 2002; and Surmani Puraskar for 2006 to name a few.
  • Gauri has presented solo recitals all over India and abroad. Some of her major performances include: Sawai Gandharva Punyatithi Music Festival in 2003; Smt.Kesarbai Kerkar Festival in Goa Kala Akademi in 2006; Suberban Music Circle Mumbai; Dadar Aatunga Cultural Center; Kalabharati at Karnatak Sangha hall, Mumbai; and Ganwardhan, Pune to name a few. Her concert engagements abroad include solo performances in Paris, France and Brisbane and Melbourne, Australia where Sydney Radio did a live broadcast of her concert as well as an interview in 2000.
  • Gauri also has sung playback to a few films and has released a number of CD recordings and cassettes
  • Gauri holds a degree in computer science but music has always been her first love.
