Event Description : KIDS WORKSHOP : Hands On presents "Double Helix : Decoding Genetics"
Introduce budding scientists to the fascinating world of genetics. The workshop helps them understand what are chromosomes & genes, how DNA is structured, and why it is so important to us. Children build a DNA double helix model, extract DNA from onions, identify traits passed down from their parents, and even use a Punnet Square to predict an offspring’s probability of inheritance. They learn about remarkable advances in the field of genetics, from cloning to genetically modified foods. Join us on a micro-quest to discover the ins and outs of this amazing code of life.
