Event Description : EXHIBITION : An Art Show by Vijayalakshmi Mohan

The Artist:
Born in Venkatasamudhiram Village, Dharmapuri District, Tamil Nadu; Vijayalakshmi Mohan now lives and works in New Delhi. She has been studying fine arts at the Art Department, Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi, under the guidance of Shri Rameshwar Broota. She has done group shows at the Sridharani Gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam and her works have been  exhibited nationally at the 87th and 88th Annual All India Art Exhibition conducted by AIFACS in 2014 and 2015, at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts in October, 2014 and more recently at the Khajuraho Art Festival in February 2016. She has also completed a certificate course in ‘Art Appreciation’ conducted by National Gallery of Modern Art, Department of Culture, Government of India in 1993.

The Series:
This series of work, is an expression in black & white of visions and visual journeys that are spectres of memories, connecting the past to the present, and building up into moments that may belong to the future. A journey through myriad landscapes, natural and imaginary, detailed and exacting, including the most miniscule, most minutiae, some touched, some untouched by realities.
