Event Description : "Zero"premiere of the documentary film.
The film is based on the itinerary of a peculiar number: Zero. A Father and his son leave in quest of Zero, a most weird figure. Indeed Zero fascinates as much as it worries and disturbs. The two characters are going to involve us in their journey, an erudite investigation that will lead us with them into the past and hence throughout the world and throughout time. In addition to their own quest we will experience two adventures that are closely linked and indeed fit into each other. The first adventure is that of the number Zero, an odd sort of number, which fascinates, annoys and scares because it is not a figure like the other figures. It is initially a number without substance or reality, counting naught or marking an empty space. The second adventure is that of the societies for which the ideas carried by the concept of Zero and its disturbing nature, facing the infinite, where at the heart of human interrogations on eternity of time and infinity of space. Around Zero, an essential concept for the development of mathematical thought, the world of science lived through centuries of controversies and fights. We will thus follow zero from the Greco Roman Mediterranean world to India and from Central Asia to Baghdad and the Islamic world from the Maghreb to Andalusia and Western Europe. We will also discover the sinuous road of concepts which came up against the dogmas, and even sometimes the iron collar of philosophical, political or religious powers.
