Event Description : HCL Concert Series presents Classical Vocal Recital by Dr. Rita Dev
Dr. Rita Dev is a pass out of Banaras Hindu University and under meticulous guidance of Guru Dr. Chittaranjan Jyotishi; she was awarded the Doctorate in music. Her musical journey reached another milestone when Guru Dr. Vidushi Girija Devi sensed the potential of her disciple and bestowed upon her the most precious blessing ‘Ganda Bhandhan’, a very special spiritual ceremony between the Guru and her disciple, showing confidence that her disciple will take forward the beautiful legacy of her Puravang Gayaki – Thumri, Dadra, Kajri, Hori and Chaity.

Apart from stage performances she is associated with Agra College as Professor in vocal music. She is undoubtedly a leading vocalist of Khyal and Puravang Gayaki - Thumri, Dadra, Kajri, Hori and Chaity amongst the young generation today.

About HCL Concert Series: Started in 1998 it provides a platform to upcoming young Indian classical artists to express their talent. Also, as patrons of Indian culture and heritage, we have tried to nurture Indian Classical Music and Performing Arts by means of the HCL Concert Series. It is a humble effort in rekindling the interest of today’s generation in classical music and rare art forms, which are slowly fading away into oblivion. ‘HCL Concert Series’ was started with the idea of identifying young and promising artists and giving them the opportunity to showcase their talent in vocal, instrumental and dance forms.
