Event Description : When Pandas Attack - a solo music project by Ankur Chauhan
When Pandas Attack is Delhi based graphic designer Ankur Chauhan’s solo project. It started about 3 years ago, with a desire to put down thoughts quickly, a form of creative note keeping, so to speak. Messing around with recording guitar parts for a while, he progressed to making full tracks without any actual instruments. This experiment gained momentum once he connected electronic music with an organic soundscape. With influences ranging from Shlohmo, Bonobo, Four Tet, Gold Panda, Cashmere Cat, Mount Kimbie to Ta-ku, his sound is essentially just a palette of what he listens to, put into an amalgamation of sorts.
His remix of Sandunes' Won't You, released on Feb 21st gained quite a lot of traction and led to a review of his music on BorderMovement (www.bordermovement.com/sandunes-attacked-pandas-atmospheric-bass-ensues/). Eventually, that led to an NH7 MixtapeThis feature. (https://soundcloud.com/whenpandasattack/nh7-mixtapethis-004-tuna-melt)
In quick succession, his remix of Tom Day & Monsoonsiren's track Love Is Rare, got released through Wild City. (www.thewildcity.com/EN/news.xhtml/article/5336-first-listen-when-pandas-attack-tom-day-monsoonsiren-remix)
Most recently, his track "Good Night To Bite" got featured in The Guardian as part of Top 10 Electronic Tracks From India. Followed by this mix he did for Wild City (Wild City #075: When Pandas Attack - Wild City)
