Event Description : International Ceramic Conclave, Delhi-2014.

Delhi Blue Pottery Trust is proud to showcase the artworks of twenty four eminent ceramists from twelve countries across the world. Representing Belgium, Ireland, Russia, Korea, Spain, Czech Republic, UK, USA, Japan, Germany, Singapore, Australia and Netherlands, this international event will consist of an exhibition, seminar and workshops spread over two days, featuring presentations, slideshows and demonstrations.

Besides the sheer diversity of ceramics on display, the event also offers a unique opportunity for interaction with each of the artists, as they will be present at the show. The trust hopes to promote a sense of collaboration and an atmosphere of mutual learning by enabling Indian artists and visitors to study the inspirations, styles, challenges and obstacles of their international counterparts, as well as gain an insight into their cultural and social
backgrounds.

This event is an unparalleled opportunity for the exchange of information and ideas between so many nations; it has been made possible via the enthusiasm of the participants and the vision and hard work of Delhi Blue Pottery Trust.

The Trust was set up in 1991 by Sardar Gurcharan Singh, the father of studio pottery in
India, as the logical continuum of Delhi Blue Art Pottery (set up by him in 1952). In the years since, the Trust has taken the lead in the promotion of studio pottery and ceramic art by organising exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations and the potter’s bazaar, annually. It is also the premier organisation teaching pottery in the country today, with over a hundred
students working at its two studios.
