Event Description : "Reforms to the Global Drug Policy".
Since the beginning of the present government of President Otto Perez Molina in 2012, Guatemala has championed the dialog to review global drug policies, in June 2013, the General Assembly of OAS (Organization of American States) signed the document “Antigua Declaration” which set the precedent to review drug policies in the Americas. Now the OAS and the Latin Americas countries are contributing to break the taboo with relation to new policies on drugs. This dialogue has been taken to the United Nations and it is on agenda for discussion during the 2016 General Assembly Special Session on Drugs (UNGASS), for “Reforms to the Global Drug Policy”. H.E. Carlos Raul Morales, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala, will share the journey that Guatemala has lead for this very important global discussion.
