Event Description : Desires Unlimited presents “Epoch – A Classic Theater Festival”, Delhi’s 1st Vintage Theatre Festival. 

Desires Unlimited, a Delhi based theatre group, presents its 49th vintage thriller titled “Rope”.The play 'Rope', written by Patrick Hamilton (1929, London), is loosely based on the Leopold and Loeb murder case (1924, Chicago). The incident and Hamilton's work also inspired Alfred Hitchcock's film 'Rope' (1948). This production is an adaptation of both the play and the film. Daniel and Sunny, graduates from St. Georges College Mussorie, fancy the notion of murder being an art. Influenced by Nietzsche and their own Prof. Kohli's theories about superior beings, they consider themselves superior to their innocent classmate and strangle him. The two then call for a party and serve food from the chest that contains Dilip's corpse. To add to the thrill, the guests include Dilip's relatives, friends and Prof. Kohli. The plot thickens when Sunny starts to crack-up under pressure and Prof. Kohli begins to suspect. A classic play that questions how we view murder. Can it be viewed only as a crime? Or as a punishment? Witness for the first time how murder can be viewed as an art and how our culture has since eons glorified murder. A play that shackles the morality on which we stand.

Cast : The play features cast from the famous “The Viral Fever” (a YouTube channel with over 4 lakh subscribers) – Naveen Kasturia, Nidhi Bisht, Rudraksh Thakur, Kairav Sharma, Ashutosh Matela, Preeti Sharma, Akanksha Thakur, and Jitendra Kumar. The production team is led by Pankaj Nanda and Abhey Kumar.

Desires Unlimited, established in 2006, is a full-fledged production house for digital audio visual content. It was co-founded by a group of engineers cum artists from IIT Delhi. Though IITians are known for their Silicon Valley startups, these youngsters opted for a different playground all together relying on Mr. Frost’s famous lines, “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.” 

The group has created corporate films for brands such as Britania, Samsung, and Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC). It has staged 11 plays and over 40 shows across Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore. The group performs ‘desi’ Broadway shows that are characterized by grandeur and centered on entertaining audiences.
