Event Description : 'Gitanjali and Sea-Inside : Parallel Journeys' an Exhibition of Painting by Nibedita Sen.
Nibedita Sen has been sailing on the high seas for over a decade with her master-mariner husband. When her personal losses led her to a zone of insurmountable darkness, it was the unfathomable blue that led her into light and she painted and wrote simultaneously as per her call.Recently while reading Tagore’s life and works, she discovered that her own paintings echo musings similar to the verses in Gitanjali. Therefore, Gitanjali and Sea Inside : Parallel Journeys, is a reflective study presentation with an array of prose, verses and paintings. Nibedita has tried to trace a parallel between the word images of Tagore and her own visual metaphors, which she feels are the reflections evolving from a similar amalgamation of inward-outward-journeys. Tagore had voyaged extensively around the world and Nibedita is a seafarer too. The fathomless blue is bound to have an immensely compelling influence on angst ridden creative minds In year 2013 this Exhibition was opened in The Nehru Centre, London, UK by Indian Council For Cultural Relations. It was showcased in Argentina at Galeria Marcel Du Champ, Fundacion CEP, Belgrano and at the prestigious Museum of Art, Palais de Glace, Recoleta, Buenos Aires. The Argentine Parliament also hosted this exhibition at Parliament Heritage Salon Pasos Perdidos, Congresso, Buenos Aires.
