Workshop Description : Self-With-Others: Ensemble Improvisation with John Britton
Self-With-Others is a unique approach to performance training. Combining fixed and improvised exercises, it develops each individual's unique qualities within an ensemble frame. It is physically demanding, joyous and rigorous. The workshop is suitable for performers across dance, theatre, circus, improvisation and interdisciplinary performance, able and willing to work in physically dynamic ways.John Britton is a performer, director, writer and teacher. He teaches extensively internationally, including regular visits to Balletakademien (Stockholm), University of Huddersfield (UK), Au Brana Cultural Centre (France), Fara (Greece), and many other countries. This trip to Delhi is part of a wider programme of workshops and residencies organised in collaboration with The Arshinagar Project to follow-up a successful visit in 2013. John is Artistic Director of DUENDE - a collaboration of performers committed to ensemble practices - and author of 'Encountering Ensemble' (published Methuen/Bloomsbury; 2013).
