Event Description : 'Puneet Kaushik's Solo Show a collection of works 1998-2014.

Artist Puneet Kaushik presents a collection of his works from 1998 to 2014, a period when installations were his focus. The collection takes you on a journey through installations, water colours and mixed media, some inspired by his foray into traditional art, craft and fabrics…to the world of steel wires which has had him ensnared ever since. 

Having studied, lived and worked at the University of California, Berkeley, USA for almost a decade, Delhi-based artist Puneet Kaushik returned home to Delhi with sentiments and nostalgia of sinking roots within his cultural milieu. His installations are three dimensional sculptures that negate normative definition. The works are either crocheted or woven with very fine steel wire mesh and sometimes latex rubber and fur. As an expansive versatile medium it is premised on the condition of interaction, stimulating dialogues or another response with the spectator.

In his installations, Puneet has been successfully driven by a single idea or concept, injecting an element of exploration, with materials offering their own guiding agency; and in this respect he marks a posture of difference. The guiding concept behind the majority of the works has been around the idea of Identity, the dealing with the self. The beauty and the ugliness within the surface; the superficial and the deeper self, textured and layered by different circumstances where it is rare to be in a position to penetrate into the real self.
