Event Description : Melbourne International Comedy Festival & Teamwork Arts presents 'RAW Comedy 2014' National Open Mic Comedy Competition Conquer Your Comedy Everest!
After the huge success at the Oz Fest in India last year, Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) and Teamwork Arts present Raw Comedy India 2014.
With the support of the Australian Government, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival is bringing Australia's biggest open-mic comedy competition, RAW Comedy back to India to find the best, undiscovered Indian comedian! The aim of Raw Comedy India is to find, develop and showcase great talent for the entertainment and inspiration of a broad based audience.
This year, the competition will be held in Mumbai, Bangalore, and Delhi followed by the finale in Delhi. The Australian comedians Justin Hamilton and Kate McLennan will train the Indian participants through workshops in all the three cities
The Raw Comedy finale will take place in Delhi on February 23, 2014 at Zo, HauzKhas Village. The National finale will see the performances of the winners from each city. The final winner of the competition will get an opportunity to win a trip to participate at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in Australia.
Sanjoy Roy, Managing Director Teamwork Arts said, “Raw Comedy will be an opportunity for Indian comedians to showcase their talents internationally at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Teamwork Arts will bring the best international comedy to India as laughter is supposedly the best medicine.”
In 2013, the competition was won by Neeti Palta from New Delhi at the Oz Fest in November 2012, who impressed judges with her slick comedy style. As the inaugural winner of RAW Comedy India, Neeti flew to Australia and wowed Melbourne audiences with her feature spot in the national Raw Comedy Grand Final at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2013.
