Event Description : Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation presents 'INSERT2014' The Sharp Edge of the Global Contemporary
INSERT2014 is a constellation of conversations with leading thinkers from around the world and across disciplines. Produced by the Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation and supported by the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan and Prohelvetia – Swiss Arts Council, with Raqs Media Collective as Artistic Directors, INSERT2014 renews focus on the Artist as a generator of ideas, who questions things the world takes
for granted.
INSERT2014 unfolds a series of unexpected encounters with contemporary art in the public domain. Within its purview, several exhibits, symposiums and performances will take place over one month at cultural sites across Delhi, bringing together a diverse group of international experts and contemporary artists to inaugurate a re-thinking of the city’s cultural infrastructure.
A central focus of INSERT2014 will be an exhibition of site specific and other art works by over 20 critically acclaimed artists presented at Maati Ghar, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) including Rirkrit Tiravanija, Mai-Thu Perret, Kendell Geers, Ivana Franke, Gauri Gill and Eyal Weizman. A special performance by Hannah Hurtzig titled Last Minute Exercise has also been created specifically for INSERT2014
Mati Ghar (IGNCA), build in 1990, is a key axis of INSERT2014. The design of the building was intended to represent contested perceptions of time. The works presented at Mati Ghar include sculpture, installation, performance and video, and will engage visitors in conversations with the site, the city, and some of the most exciting movements in global contemporary culture.
