"Bigger than Blues" debut album launch followed by live performance by Big Bang Blues at Turquoise Cottage, 47 Basant Lok, Vasant Vihar > 9pm onwards on 8th December 2012

Entry : Rs. 200 per head (which will include one copy of the album and one complimentary beer). Out of every entry collection of Rs. 200, a sum of Rs.100 will go as proceeds to Avanti and Rs.100 to the band for album.
Also Avanti volunteers will collect/accept donations during the performance from generous audiences and supporters of this cause. The donations made towards Avanti are tax-exempt under section 80G.

Event Description : Big Bang Blues, the Delhi based band are launching their debut album 'Bigger than Blues' in Delhi and have decided to do it as a fund raiser/benefit show for the NGO

Avanti. Big Bang Blues will be playing a pro-bono show at Turquoise Cottage Vasant Vihar on 8th December, Saturday. The band has already been part of a fundraiser earlier for Friendicoes SECA (Society for the Eradication of Cruelty to Animals) at Turqoiuse Cottage, where they were able to raise approx. Rs.23,000. They believe that their talent can contribute to the cause of NGO Avanti, who helps disadvantaged high-school students gain college admissions through mentoring and affordable, high quality after school programs. Big Bang Blues is proud to be associated with them.

About Avanti the NGO

Avanti is a non-profit organization (80G/12A), started by IIT Bombay Alumni in 2010. Avanti helps disadvantaged high-school students gain college admission through mentoring and affordable, high quality after school programs. Their learning centers provide students access to technology-based learning tools and encourage them to learn collaboratively and effectively. 

They currently mentor and train over 350 students across 7 cities in India. They are India's largest student mentor organization. Over 300 student mentors from India’s top undergraduate colleges help tutor and mentor their Fellows. They are a PAN IIT Nation Building Initiative, 2012 Echoing Green Fellowship and also recently been selected as a Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation grantee. 

Your support of this event will help Avanti set up learning centers in Delhi, Kanpur and Mumbai and educate over 300 new students. Your contributions will fund computers, projectors, and furniture for each center. We hope that many of you will join in to help create a better future for these incredibly gifted students.

About Big Bang Blues and the debut album 'Bigger than Blues'

As the album cover depicts it, the album 'Bigger than Blues' is like a Rock'n'Roll baby from a Blues mother. It opens with the powerful Aretha Franklin-like vibe of Disrespected Blues going on to the rock-n-roll survivor tale in Junky Stone. The third song Sweet Bridge is a psychedelic dream of a long distance lover, which later followed by a intricate slide guitar intro on Lovestruck Blues a standard blues progression which pays tribute to the American blues musician Muddy Waters. The EP ends with the heartbreak rock'n'roll story in Moonless Nights.
