Event Details : Embassy of Spain presents 'When Five Years Pass' English Play. 
This play is the author’s most challenging and original play. It is a dreamscape in which all the characters are projections from the mind of the ‘Young Man’- the central character. The protagonist goes to claim his young bride. He had agreed to wait five years to marry her, and at last the time is up. He arrives at her house only to find that she has fallen in love with a large and brutal football player, who does nothing but squeeze her and blow cigar smoke in her face. Heartbroken, the Young Man wanders home through a forest and a circus, taunted on his way by a Clown, a harlequin and a girl.

Background : ‘When Five Years Pass’, written in 1931, has been hailed as Spanish writer Federico Garcia Lorca’s most original and experimental work. It premières in India and deals with the surrealistic enterprise of theatre through Lorca’s vision. His struggle within, as an artist, as a human being, his relationships and his understanding of life & death itself.
