Carlos Fuentes is one of the best known writers in Spanish from the late 20th Century. Nominated in different occasions for the Nobel Award of Literature, he has won important prizes like Rómulo Gallegos in 1997, Cervantes in 1987, Príncipe de Asturias de las Letras in 1994, The Great Cross of the Order of Isabel the Catholic in 2009, and he was a member of the Mexican Academy for Linguistics in 2001. Among his extensive literary work, including novels, essays and even theatre or cinema scripts, we can find his best known Aura, La muerte de Artemio Cruz (The death of Artemio Cruz), La región más transparente (The most transparent region), or Tierra Nostra, just
to name some.
Biography : Dr. Minni Sawhney is Associate professor at the University of Delhi and currently
Visiting Professor at Doon University Dehra Dun. She did her Ph.d on nationalism in the novels of Carlos Fuentes from JNU in 2000 through fellowships at the El Colegio de Mexico and UNAM. Her other research interests in this field include Mexican - U.S. Border literature, the narconovel and the narcocorrido.
