Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) has announced its next ‘Publics’ event with a focus on Urban Disaster Management. IIHS Publics aims at facilitating a dialogue between experts and budding professionals.
The preparation of an effective disaster preparedness and intervention strategy requires that the professionals who conceptualize them have a holistic perspective. The Publics on Urban Disaster Management will help participants understand how physical, economic, socio-cultural, institutional components of risk are interconnected. Managing these inter-dependencies is critical for effective disaster risk reduction.
The session will enable participants to interact and network with experts in Disaster and Risk Management and will be hosted by Dr. Rohit Jigyasu, Professor at the Research Centre for Disaster Mitigation of Urban Cultural Heritage at Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto, Japan and the President of ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Risk Preparedness (ICORP). Mr. Anup Karanth, Senior Consultant at TARU Leading Edge Pvt Ltd will be on the expert panel. The agenda includes a presentation by experts followed by a Q&A session.
