Event Details : BooGio Productions presents 'Thus Spake Shoorpanakha, So Said Shakuni".
Poile Sengupta’s designate villains (the vanquished) - Shoorpanakha, sister of the demon-king Ravana; and Shakuni, brother of Gandhari, wife to the blind King Dhritharastra - make a fascinating, provocative and sometimes even scandalous retelling of India’s best known epics, ubiquitous to our received notions of self to this day.
Thus Spake Shoorpanakha, So Said Shakuni unfolds at an airport through two characters straddling the past and present, hurtling towards their dénouement.
It is a testimony to our contemporary engagement with India shining, with shifts in world economy, with the war on terror, with gender norms, with our sense of propriety, with our notions of beauty and love.
