Event Details : Hindi Bhavan presents 'Rasvant-Dhara' Bharatanatyam performance based on Hindi poetry by Geeta Chandran.
In her efforts to convert primarily North Indian audiences to the intricacies of the south Indian classical dance form of Bharatanatyam, dancer/choreographer Geeta Chandran has pioneered the integration of regional poetry and literature with the grammar of Bharatanatyam. Working with her Gurus and scholars, Geeta has created a vast repertoire of pieces that showcase Bharatanatyam to northern audiences.
In this performance crafted for the Hindi Bhavan, the dancer brings alive bhavas and rasas that truly belong to Bharatanatyam but in a language that breaks artificial barriers. The purpose of art is to communicate, says the dancer. Even while the language of the pieces may have changed, their authenticity is not altered.
Known for the superb pedigree she brings to each of her creative ventures, RASVANT-DHARA too promises to bring alive the classical dance through new perspectives of audience engagement.
In RASVANT-DHARA, Geeta employs a vast repertroire of writers and poets who bring alive the aesthetics and flavor of Bharatanatyam.
