SaMaPa Sangeet Sammelan is an electric juxtaposition of the richness and pageantry of Indian music, arts, cultural heritage and the artists of the country. ‘SaMaPa Sangeet Sammelan’ is acclaimed as one of the most prestigious festivals of the country giving a common platform to the younger generation musicians with exceptional talent with senior musicians of the country. On this occasion ‘SaMaPa Vitasta Award’, ‘SaMaPa Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah Award’ and ‘SaMaPa Acharya Abhinavgupt Samman’ will also be presented.
SaMaPa, through its dedicated efforts to bring music to the masses (jan jan tak sangeet), has become one of the premier organizations in the musical scenario of the country being recognized on a Global level in the field of Music and Culture. SaMaPa, under the aegis of its Chairman, the Santoor Legend and Music Composer Padmashri Pandit Bhajan Sopori, is acclaimed as a cultural bridge of J&K and rest of the country. SaMaPa is not just an academy but a cultural movement.
‘Swar-laya Samwad’, a theme based presentation, is a special attraction of the festival with innovative recitals being presented for the first time in the history, which features eminent musicians while presenting and promoting upcoming musicians also. This year the theme is ‘Thumri Ke Rang’ featuring Thumri singing in 3 different styles – Banaras, Lucknow and Patiala. The festival also features a Painting exhibition of artists from J&K.
