Event Details : 'Time Vandal' an exhibition of paintings by Nandan Ghiya.
Time Vandal works its way through the layers in a very subtle, delicate and gradual manner. While the changes are not instantly visible, one can clearly see the evident beauty in a close encounter- Rustic surfaces, torn paper and chipping paint unfold an ocean of human attributes- dreams, promises, deals, ambitions and much more, nourished/nurtured ironically by urine along with forces of Nature.
The slow erosion takes place very much like that in Nature. And, is as flawless and magical. Time the Vandal works in perfect sync with Mother Nature. Man in his juvenile ambitions paints an advert, sticks a bill, sticks many more craving attention. Wind corrodes it, rain washes it, sunlight fades it. Mother Nature weathers the horrid representation of human civilization.
Human behavior is pretty one track in a rather unnatural fashion. All actions are usually driven by a single desire to procure money. Money is that singular motivation that seems to govern life at large. Maybe it is the flaw of the System, which blinds humans to everything else- sunshine, rain, wind, flowers, rivers, vegetation, etc. Being the highest in the chain of evolution, we seem to have given ourselves this dictatorial authority to exploit every other form of life to achieve that singular motivation.
Public walls are a great example of this doctrine of human civilization. And, my paintings which are inspired by painted public spaces as an effort to throw some light on the interaction between Man's pursuits v/s Time Vandal.
