Event Details : Seven Art Limited Gallery presents the work of Pakistani artist, Amna Ilyas.  The  artist  uses glass and Acrylic for her work. Her starting point was the excitement about the three-dimensionality of transparency, more precisely the sheet of Acrylic as a medium for her artistic statement- “I injured, I destroyed, I smeared and I covered transparency.” She intends to make it visible in order to provide a new ordering of space.
Her approach towards art making is not as creating something completely new, but as reorganizing what is already there. In respond to her immediate surroundings, each material has its own formal properties, which are just as important to her as its contemporary, historical, and environmental resonances. In this way, she treat materials like artifacts as things to be learned from. Also for this reason, her work tends to be tactile and immediate.
Beyond the  aesthetic and 'clever-ness' of it, she found herself meditating on the layers, with the beauty and shinny light of the superficial upper, incurring and supported by the dark underbelly of society... she was drawn to the duality of it, then realized it is a trinity with the subtle presence of the transparent Acrylic . Often the creator is sometimes portrayed as the force of good/light, and the destroyer, darkness / the light reflection, the mirror and the shadow beneath. It also reminiscent of the layers of society, clean shiny rich people at the top and the dark underclass sustaining them. Man woman relationship, Relationships are like shadows, wherever you go they are with you!
‘A mirror is not only a construction to see , it is also the other side of the human body. Taking them as a starting point I try to improvise personalities and constructs brief stories of human misery and joy’,says Amna Ilyas.
She  looks for the thin borderline between the things we call ‘normal’ and ‘abnormal’. Her undertakings are in a sense a kind of ‘committed’ art where the psychological aspect is of great importance. As an artist  she  provoke in her characters the need to talk, to reflect.
