Film – Dhrupad in the Times of Liberalization (30 min; 2002; dvd; English subtitles)
Directed by Arvind SInha who will introduce the film.
The oldest surviving form of Hindustani classical music, Dhrupad is meditative and contemplative. The film examines the position of Dhrupad in today’s India.
Talk - Followed by a discussion on: Past, Present and Future of Dhrupad
Panelists : Arvind Sinha, documentary filmmaker; Faiyaz Wasifuddin Dagar, President, Dhrupad Society & Dhrupad exponent; Mrinal Pande, journalist & author; and Dagmar Bernstorff, German scholar & author.
