  • Time : 6:30 pm
  • Event Info : Staging of the play 'paisa paisa paisa' by The Modern School Old Students Association.
  • About the Play : The story revolves around a couple, Malti and Rao Danvir Singh, who are heavily in debt. A distant cousin, Shamsher Singh, leaves them a fortune. Fearing that their creditors would get wind of this fact, the couple decide to fool their creditors, by creating a situation in which people falsely believe that Danvir is dead. However, the information leaks out, and two people arrive on the scene pretending to be Danvir Singh. Plenty of confusion ensues in this situational comedy, and eventually Danvir appears on the scene to claim his inheritance, only to find out from his lawyer that only a few dollars remain after his debts were cleared.
  • About The Modern School Old Students Association ( MSOSA ) : The Modern School Old Students Association is one of the most active old students associations in the country today. Cultural activities of the association include the Modernites Annual Play, which has been a yearly feature for the last 50 years and is the primary fund raising event of the year.
  • The profits from this function are being used to sponsor scholarships for needy and meritorious students in Modern School who cannot afford the fees of the school. Presently, 16 such students are studying in the school.
  • The association is also utilizing these funds for giving a 'Guru Dakshina' purse to old retired teachers, as a mark of respect for services rendered to the school. Till today, retired teachers have benefited from this scheme.
  • Prominent educational institutions and universities all over the world have various Chairs for eminent people to join institutions and contribute to their development. MSOSA took the lead in establishing the MSOSA Chair in Modern School last year and was able to persuade Professor Yashpal, and eminent educationist and scientist, to occupy the position and lend his guidance to the teachers and students of the school. This is a unique experiment in a school. We have undertaken successfully many welfare activities for the students and have helped in renovating the heritage building, which is 84 years old.
