Event Description : EXHIBITION :
SEEMS presents "Panorama 10" A group show of Paintings & Sculptures by Contemporary Artists.

This exhibition is dedicated to the undying spirit and enthusiasm of the promising and talented artists: a rarity in the 21st century cosmopolitan life where people hardly get time to appreciate art and aesthetics. It is here that we promote our artists to firmly hold on to our traditions while simultaneously giving their artistic aspirations the wings they need. Our aim is to promote appreciation of artworks and motivate the artistic imagination every artist is endowed with.
·        This time the artists have taken recourse to nature. Mother Nature constantly encourages them and becomes their muse. The adverse effects of globalization, indiscriminate felling of trees, deforestation, and industrialization has been expressed on the canvases beautifully.
·        The bold strokes of artist Ram Kumar is worth noticing. The ease with which Gaurav Dahiya uses the spatula is worth appreciating. Meghna and Rohini’s figurative works are thought provoking. Veteran artist Uma Bardhan’s works are a blend of childlike simplicity and adult like wisdom. Rinku’s and Veena’s landscapes have a realistic touch and the audience would feel as a part of the paintings while Ambika’s butterflies add colours to the exhibition and makes it vivacious.
·        The sculptors, Pooja Hukku and Zakir Khan have taken their inspiration from nature. The artists have used various media to express their creative imagination. Acrylics on canvas, oil on canvas, mixed media have been used.

Curated by Priyanka Banerjee
Curator’s Note

·        My journey as an art curator has been summed up into four things. One, it means to preserve and safeguard the heritage of art. I have to confront with many impediments while doing so. Second, it means to be a selector of new art. It means to connect with his art history. It means taking the viewers into the past and telling them the significance of art. Third, it means displaying or arranging art. This becomes a formidable challenge as there are many fake artists who copy the works of the masters at a cheaper rate. This spoils the market of the professional artists who work incessantly in this field to make both ends meet. My job is to safeguard their interests by giving them proper recognition in the society. Fourth, the exhibition becomes interesting if there is a theme of social relevance. Over the course of my career, I have been lucky to get associated with established people who give encouragement to the artists. The goal of curatorial practice is the best representation of visual art to an identified audience, says Priyanka Banerjee, the curator of the Exhibition.

Participating Artists: Ambika Murthy, Gaurav Dahiya, Meghna Agarwal, Pooja Hukku, Ram Kumar, Rinku Jha, Rohini Jain, Umar Bardhan, Venna Singh and Zakir Khan
