Event Description : EXHIBITION "In search of Samadhana" a solo show of paintings by Valentina Churilova
This exhibition by Canadian artist Valentina Churilova features mixed media paintings. Churilova received traditional training in painting from Ukraine. Thereafter she acquired BFA from Canada. She has continued her practice of art under the tutelage of renowned contemporary artist Mr. Rameshwar Broota at Triveni Kala Sangam in New Delhi. Churilova affirms that it's the guidance from Mr. Broota that has enabled her to consolidate her experience into the current body of works. She is presenting a fusion of traditional and modern approaches to painting with elements from intricate art of India. These works are posed as invitations by the artist to search for the known in the overall tradition of painting. They explore beauty of animate and inanimate objects placed in textural frameworks of nature in relation to efforts of the artist. These are philosophical contemplations on the notion of effortless effort and question the role of an artist as either the maker of art or an observer and witness to the creation itself.
